devlug.de is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

So it only has about 100 people in it (as opposed to over 3,000 in the unofficial Matrix room), but I just discovered that has an official room; debian@conference.debian.org . They also have other ones for kids, non-English languages, etc.

      The project had to grapple with this. It took it awhile to learn that allowing poisonous people to run rampant caused more harm than good and drove away would-be talented developers.

      But there were never absolutely no rules. Perhaps the owner ("sysop") of a would ban you for insulting their cat. Perhaps they let just about anything go, including the poisonous bits.

        Liebe Medien mit Linux geht dies sehr wohl und auch beruflich seit langem. Doch immer noch sind leider viele skeptisch aber mMn nicht argumentatiev. Ich denke für die meisten reicht die Distribution @linuxmint, @debian und/oder @fedora obwohl es noch viele weitere zu empfehlenden gibt, die sich aber meistens darauf aufbauen.
