In case you're using the official ejabberd packages on Debian stable: They're affected by a recent CA policy change (e.g., Let's Encrypt), causing ejabberd to reject newly issued certificates and thereby breaking federation with some remote servers. Deploy this update to fix the issue:

You may also want to consider enabling mod_s2s_dialback to deal with remote servers that haven't been updated yet.

I use SIP, too — for calls to/from POTS! Both Ekiga and Linphone were pretty good, but got dropped from #Debian 😞 Now I use Twinkle and will try Gnome Calls, again.

TTBOMK, #Monal by @Monal used to have one or the other known issue with A/V calls. Sth. with timing, IIRC? Maybe it's fixed now.

I'm mainly using #Gajim by @gajim on #Debian desktop and #Dino by @dino on my #Mobian smartphone.

I don't run Android or iOS, but friends use #Conversations_im by @daniel on the former and #Monal by @Monal on the latter. Or their respective #Quicksy flavours, which are slightly easier to onboard for less tech-savvy people.

Ich lauf sehr selten mit einem #Smartphone herum. Allerdings habe ich eigentlich fast immer ein 11,6" Laptop und einen mobilen LTE Router dabei. 🤷 Was nicht so gut klappt, sind spontane Selfies. 🥳

Auf dem Gerät läuft ein #Debian #GNU #Linux (testing). Zum telefonieren kann ich gnome-calls mit einem SIP-Account verwenden. Zum chatten nutze ich auf dem Gerät @dino. Ich habe die Tage sogar ein ein paar mal Videotelefonie mit #Conversations auf der anderen Seite ausprobiert. Hat gut funktioniert.
