@adbenitez @rysiek I was ready to boost in the first paragraph, and then I saw the recommendation 😅

I haven't heard good things about DeltaChat UX. allows you to self-host, register on public servers without even providing an email address, and ask non-geek contacts to install Quicksy or Prav (so they can register using phone numbers). It's got AV calls and other features expected in modern chat.

And XMPP is actually made for chat from the ground up.

I would say Snikket is a project introducing a uniform branding. A very well preconfigured and easy Snikket server based on prosody, Snikket apps (based on Conversations and Siskin). This means: People do not need to talk about the protocol but can simply say: "I am using Snikket!"
So: You are right: it is !

Just as an idea: Maybe there should be an logo with all the clients logo around (communicating with each other) on the right side of the picture.

I've seen a lot of people talking about leaving . Great!

Only, don't replace one WhatsApp with another.

and are centralized services, and just as vulnerable to as Twitter or WA.

            Instead, use a platform that's standardized and federated - , a.k.a. .

The easiest way to use it is to install from the Play Store, App Store, or F-Droid.

So it only has about 100 people in it (as opposed to over 3,000 in the unofficial Matrix room), but I just discovered that has an official room; debian@conference.debian.org . They also have other ones for kids, non-English languages, etc.

@joelanman Signal is centralized. Centralized services are vulnerable to enshittification, as demonstrated by Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook.

The solution is to use a platform like instead.

The easiest way is to use it is to install Quicksy from the Play Store, App Store, or F-Droid - quicksy.im

11 years into the development of , I’m still working to enhance its security. Most recently, I’ve added support for XEP-0474: SASL SCRAM Downgrade Protection.

To take advantage of our continued commitment to security, make sure to:

                    · Use Conversations rather than a (soon-to-be-abandoned) fork

                    · Install Conversations through a source that provides automatic updates (F-Droid for Android 12+ or Google Play)

I made a simply Grafana dashboard to show some metrics of the Pimux.de XMPP server. Quite interesting to see the usage of my server varying during the day.

I’m still happy to see so many people using XMPP on a regular basis!

The other 5 panels are showing a graph within 24 hours: size of file storage, about 23 GB. Online users between 600 and 1200. Registered users 6091 dropping to 6090. Client-To-Client connection for IPv4 and IPv6 and Server-To-Server Connections.
