@robertmx even without those improvements, is significantly better performing than matrix.

Joining a channel/group will only take a few seconds (~5-10) even in large channels.

Of course this can even be improved further, like @mattj said :)

Looks like all three of my old 2000s-era / accounts are gone.

The jabber.org server no longer recognizes my account there. jabber.unoc.net and programmer-art.org don't exist at all.

@daniel It's also good to know that you can attend remotely, details will be shown on the wiki, usually shortly before the summit.

Just over three weeks remain until the 27th Summit takes place in Brussels. If you’re planning to attend but haven’t registered yet, please make sure to add your name to the wiki by the end of this week: wiki.xmpp.org/web/Conferences/

If you’re an XMPP developer or spec author and weren’t planning to attend, I’d strongly encourage you to reconsider

For those who can’t make it to Brussels but will be in Berlin on Wednesday, February 12th, we’ll be discussing the Summit at that week’s XMPP Meetup

Is there a way to set up a service on a server that listens for incoming XMPP messages and forwards them via ntfy? 📡 My wife uses an iPhone, and unfortunately, she doesn’t receive notifications for group chats. 😅 Looking for a clever workaround to keep her in the loop! 💡

Note that we maintain an allowlist of tags here: search.jabber.network/tags/ Tags which are not on that list are ignored.

Suggest new tags we should add/allow in the replies to this thread!

This release also marks the implementation of a feature people have been asking since forever: Search / channels by language. You can now do that!

To search for all channels in french, you could type "lang:fr" in the search bar. Like this: search.jabber.network/search?q

"lang:foo" can be combined with other search terms.

More information on how to search by language is found in the FAQ: search.jabber.network/docs/faq

If you run a public server can you look up what percentage of connected clients are Blabber? I’m wondering if the 15% reported by jabberfr.org is a weird outlier. On our server (conversations.im) the number is closer to 4-5% but we are obviously biased towards Conversations users.
